These works are a part of the project Skogen mellan oss (The forest between us),
a national collaboration project run by Konstfrämjandet

The history of Norberg's mines is characterized by male names and bodies, although it was also the case that women and children worked in and around the mine pits that used to be active in the region of Västmanland. They often sorted and washed the iron ore that was brought up from the mine. These textile works that were placed around the old mine pit in Klackberg during the pandemic summer of 2021, wanted to highlight the work that may have happened on the periphery around the mine industry. To show that the bodies performing this work also has been a part of forming the events of history.  Craft methods and materials can help us to speculate around other narratives. Here, one of the works called "Sisters" consists of braids, and there the braid as an object, body and technique comes in. The braid becomes a kind of chain that connects us with the past and the future.
