Bombyx Mori, well fitted for women?

The banner, which consists of silk, wool and glass-bead embroidery, is circulation around the female silk workers in Manchester during the 1930s. The work wants to discuss how we see political organization, silk is often seen as a fragile feminine material, but after researching in union archives in Manchester, a story is unfolded about female silk workers that have for centuries waged a violent struggle that consisted of civil disobedience, organization and resistance. Bombyx Mori, the silk moth, is one of many workers in the long chain of silk production.The banner has been displayed at Galleri Young Art (Stockholm), Arbetarrörelsens arkiv och bibliotek (Flemingsberg), Erlandergården (Ransäter) and during Bråforsdagarna (Fagersta) 2023.
